About us

Spain offers outstanding natural scenery, vast wide open spaces and an impressive abundance of wildlife. We have been enjoying the unique treasures this country has to offer for many years and we want to show off these natural spaces and share our passion for the mountains with you! Walking holidays in northern Spain are usually very expensive and out of reach for many people, which was what motivated us to start Go Trekking Spain, to make these places affordable, easily accessible to you and to share our local knowledge of the area - because nobody can show off an area like a local! We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to northern Spain.

We already have a successful and trusted company, Sea Kayaking Lanzarote, which we run during the winter months in the Canary islands. Since that company is more established as we've been running it for longer, you can visit our Sea Kayaking Lanzarote TripAdvisor page to see what our clients think about us!

Juan Valencia

UIMLA Recognised Hiking Guide.
Juan has been involved in the outdoors all his life and has a particular love of the mountains and the sea. This led to him pursue a career in guiding and he became a fully qualified sea kayaking and hiking guide. Juan gained his Mountain Leader qualification in the School of the High Mountain of Benasque - la Escuela de Alta Montaña de Benasque (Federación Aragonesa de Montañismo) with official UIMLA recognised qualifications (The Union of International Mountain Leader Associations).
He has been hiking in the mountains since he was a child - he's hiked in the Himalayas, Rockies, Carpathians, the Alps and, of course, all around Spain and especially the Pyrenees. He enjoys skiing, snowboarding, surfing, hiking, cycling and kayaking and also watching wildlife.
Juan works as a sea kayak guide in the Canary islands during the winter (September to April, see Sea Kayaking Lanzarote) and a hiking guide in the summer and has 10 years experience in guiding. He's been a qualified mountain guide since 2015.

Sarah Locke

Sarah is our zoologist and has a love for all wildlife, but has a particular interest in and specialist knowledge of birds. Be prepared for lots of excited "oooh" noises, pointing of the finger skywards and a lot of photo taking if any birds dare venture within sight! Sarah enjoys being active and loves travelling and being outdoors, whether on the water or hiking in the hills. She splits her time between Lanzarote (see Sea Kayaking Lanzarote), northern Spain, and Glasgow where she spends a lot of her time rowing. When she's not rowing, she can be found walking in the mountains and around the lochs of Scotland, taking every available opportunity to be in the outdoors immersed in nature. Juan likes to call her the Sherpa - you'll find out why if you need someone to carry your kit!
Sarah is also a professional artist specialising in highly detailed wildlife drawings, which you can take a look at on her website here.
